Every hosting provider advertises uptime percentages. 99.9%. 99.99%.

Some claim 100%. The numbers look similar but represent dramatically different amounts of acceptable downtime. Understanding what these percentages translate to in real time, and what the provider’s SLA actually commits to, is essential before you sign a hosting contract for a business-critical site.
